Margaret Gibb
Treasurer
Driven by a strong belief in social justice, I have been fortunate to spend almost 30 years working and volunteering in third sector organisations. I am passionate about the sector’s values and its value to society, communities and to individuals.
In my professional life as a self employed Interim CEO and consultant in a wide range of charities and social enterprises I have been able to see how much centres such as KPC contribute to the health, wellbeing, and cohesion of the communities they serve. Often, they are a lifeline for people, and I want to be able to play a small part in helping KPC to thrive in order that more people can connect with others, learn, express their creativity, and be supported when they need a hand, or at times a safety net, whilst having a chance to give support to others.
I bring to KPC strong strategic thinking skills, financial management skills at strategic and operational levels, lots of charity management experience, an awareness of the wider operating environment and funding landscape. Also a willingness to roll my sleeves up and muck in with whatever priority or emergency might need my help. Outside of work I’ve been busy being a single parent of three now young adult sons, a music lover, intermittent hiker and a hoarder of far too many books.

I am an accountant currently working at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Trust. My previous roles have included working in external audit and start ups, providing a range of experiences from which to draw on. I believe in the importance of local community initiatives and am looking forward to contributing as a Trustee to the work that KPC does. I live in the Southside with my cat, enjoy growing tomatoes and getting out in the Scottish hills.

I have been resident in the G51 area since 2017 and am pleased to call Govan home. I have extensive experience working in the third sector and in community organising, including as Assistant Executive Director and Executive Director of a large member-led charity in Texas, USA. I am the Managing Director of My Academic Family, CIC, a non-profit focused on equity in education and student support and am a Project Coordinator for Inclusive Homework Club, organising and managing ESOL and computer skills courses for Refugees and Asylum Seekers. In my free time I serve as Chair of my local community council and engage in academic research which I deliver at conferences and via publication.
I bring to KPC's board my leadership, communication, project planning and evaluation, grant application and management, and community organising experience, which I hope to put to use helping KPC grow and develop.
